This Cub Scout Skit / Parody Song “Don’t Stop Scoutin'” was obviously adapted from the song “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey, originally written by Jonathan Cain, Steve Perry, Neal Schon in 1981. This cover is played with my 2017 Martin T1K Koa tenor-sized ukulele.
Helping with my two boys Cub Scout Dens is how I decided to start learning an instrument. I went to a campfire for Cub Scouts and there were no songs. I remember as a kid singing all the silly repeat after me and sing-along songs and I wanted my kids to have that same experience. That was what originally drove me to begin learning the ukulele!
Feel free to modify my parody lyrics below for your Cub Scout Pack or BSA Scout Troop campfire routines:
Intro x2
Verse 1: Just a small-town girl
Givin’ Cub Scouts a whirl
She’s joinin’ Cub Scout Pack Two-Forty-Three
Just a small town boy
Being outdoors brings him lots of joy
He’s joinin’ Cub Scout Pack Two-Forty-Three
Interlude x2
Verse 2: Camping outside in my tent
Pinewood Derby axles gettin’ bent
Skits and songs and making s’mores
The thrill goes on and on and on and on
Prechorus: Out on a long hike,
Scout essentials in my daypack,
Whittling chip really gave Akela a fright
Signs up Scout friends!
Tying square knots behind my back now
Snoring echoes from a tent at night
Interlude x2
Verse 3: Going to the blue and gold
Who’s got the most popcorn sold
Firing rockets into the sky, just one more time.
Going to summer camp
Why are all my clothes so damp?
Buddy check at waterfront
The thrills go on and on and on and on
Prechorus: Out on a long hike,
Scout essentials in my daypack,
Whittling chip really gave Akela a fright
Signs up Scout friends!
Tying square knots behind my back now
Snoring echoes from a tent at night
Interlude x2
Chorus: Don’t stop Scoutin’
Dancin’ round the campfire shoutin’
Buzzing mosquito Oh nooooo!
Don’t stop Scoutin’
Dancin’ round the campfire shoutin’
Buzzing mosquito Oh nooooo!
Don’t stop Scoutin’
Dancin’ round the campfire shoutin’
Buzzing mosquito Oh nooooo!
Don’t! Stop!
