This video is part of my ukulele play-along series, designed to help new ukulele players build confidence and enjoy playing real songs from day one. You can also check out the brief Hallelujah Song history video I made, which shows how the song written by Leonard Cohen went from near obscurity to becoming one of the most well-known songs of all time. Even being featured in the movie Shrek! No complicated theory—just five easy chords in this song, so grab your uke and play along!

  • Chords used: F, Dm, Bb, C & A7
  • The original version of the song was in the key of C, but this key of F suits my vocal range better.
  • Fingerpicking pattern: Your fingers are numbered – thumb = one, index = two, middle = three, and ring finger = four.
  • The pattern is 1-2-3-4-3-2 and repeats throughout the entire song.
  • Tempo: Moderate, great for beginners
